Trails of Memories is a cross-disciplinary and manifold survey focusing on the part of the city of Pafos that is situated between the Municipal Gardens and Moussallas, a district that during the early 20th century became Paphos’ epicentre of immense urban landscape development. This landscape diminishes fast –even before the foundation of the Republic of Cyprus in 1960– leaving behind and bequeathing a sense of desolation, deconstruction and desertion. The project will interconnect the audience of the Cultural Capital of Paphos with the public space of the Old Town through numerous site-specific performances while an exhibition with rare archival and audiovisual material will take visitors on a journey in space and time.

FROM RUINS OF ANTIQUITY TO RUINS OF MODERNITY: CONSTRUCTING ALTERNATIVE HISTORIES OF SITES, OBJECTS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND MUSEUMS.
Workshop organised @ Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art [MIMA] by Dr Aikaterini Gegisian, Teesside University, and Dr Kostas Prapoglou. This workshop explores the relationship between ruins of antiquity and the emerging ‘ruins of modernity’ in the context of the Western de-industrialisation process. It offers a critique of the Eurocentric narrative of progress, nation-building mechanisms and contemporary material culture.
